The best style to write in is the simple style, the one that sounds almost like an 8th grader was behind it. The kind where you don’t say any more than you need and use words that are easy for people.
It is much easier to write up than it is down, having so many extra words to rely on, like beautifully or magnificent. Stuff that you can stick anywhere but doesn’t mean much or help the conversation any. But that isn’t all true, now is it? Because writing up is writing down, in a way. And writing down, is writing up.
Some of my best writing–the kind I have won awards for, of which I have a few–had almost no adjectives in it or anything. It was very plain.

Makes sense – “simple-style” writing is usually direct and straight to the point, so you don’t have to waste time trying to figure out what’s going on, or checking the meaning of words in a dictionary. Also there are so many people out there that speaks English as a second language, so I think the simple style of writing can reach out to more people.
