Pat,
Here is an argument for relativism, but it is not an argument for strong relativism. This argument also requires absolute truth from the standpoint of a ‘conservative’ (a.k.a. early) Christianity. In Christianity the absolute is transcendent. Therefore, absolute truth must be revealed. Within Christianity there is by necessity, soteriology. Among the earliest notions of salvation was the concept of divine pedagogy. This all, therefore, leads to revealed truths solely for the purpose of learning which leads to reconciliation. I think we can all agree that learning requires some failure, which is a falsehood of sorts. Therefore relative truth is real because it is the process towards absolute truth, a Christian teleology
