Pat and Dr. Jim discuss the awesome benefits of the double kettlebell clean and press and why maybe trying to do all life things at once isn’t a great idea (hence jogging dads with strollers). The conversation then takes a hard turn to philosophy of mind and answering questions from YouTube.

New eBook: Introduction to Kettlebells – Just $1 on Amazon!
Recently, I wrote a short (read: 30 pages) eBook called Introduction to Kettlebells, which is now available on Amazon for a whopping — brace yourself! — $1.
You can snag it here ==> https://amzn.to/2HgwJgO
Short story: Introduction to Kettlebells is a quick and dirty reference guide to the core single kettlebell techniques — exercises like the swing, snatch, clean, get up, squat, etc — and a simple, 7-day training cycle for getting strong and tough.
Inside the eBook are instructional pointers, pictures of each technique, and links to video tutorials. Finally, a simple and straightforward collection of workouts for improving general physical preparedness with just one kettlebell.
While this eBook is aimed at beginners, I think even veterans will get something out of it, since it’s always good to brush up on technique and return to basics.

In general, I agree BUT Metallica’s cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s Astronomy is dang close.
Matthew Franz says
And by that I mean I can’t decide which is truly better.
Pat Flynn says
As I said, I’m willing to have my hypothesis disproven.
Pat Flynn says
Haven’t heard that one (the original, that is). Will gear up for the next lift. Love me some BOC.
Eric Wilson says
Surprised, Pat, that you agreed with the claim that the seven-day training-cycle is arbitrary.
God gave us six days to work, and a day to rest, and He did it for our good. Own it.
After all, plenty of fitness guys base there programs in highly dubiuos claims of evolutionary history — claims that could never be verified. Nothing wrong with being the guy that sticks up for a the seven-day week as God-given.
Pat Flynn says
I don’t think it maps on quite that simply, Eric. It’s more a matter of arbitrarily constraining program design to a seven day cycle when more (and often better) options are available, particularly when it comes to how one periodizes their training blocks. There’s no dig at God’s design there – though, do you really think I’m afraid of being the fitness guy that sticks up for God? As if God needs any sticking up for ; )
But yes, many highly dubious claims based on evolutionary science abound. Water is also wet. No disagreement there.
