Pat: The purpose of this post is to share a few recent successes of Inner Circle members (particularly those who took part in my Becoming Minimalist Case Study) and private online coaching clients. I asked Christine to compile this post for me, unfortunately.
================================================================
Christine: When Pat asked me to start contributing to his website, I got so excited. See, I’ve been collecting tidbits for a book I aim to title The Truth about Pat Flynn. In it, I’ll divulge the realities of life around our house –the innumerable times Pat has very nearly started a kitchen fire boiling tea water, the way every bone in his body becomes a gelatinous stick of cheese whenever I ask him to put pants on in the middle of the day, and his constant requests for a foot rub and a hot lunch.
But alas, once he read the first pass at this article, he struck most of the good stuff right from the page. I said, fine. Have it your way. And while he went to boil up some tea water and set off the smoke alarm, I pasted some truths back in [see above].
So while my excitement for writing a post for Chronicles of Strength was dulled, it was again buoyed when I learned what my true assignment was to be – to share with you all the big triumphs and the weighty successes of Pat’s online coaching clients and Inner Circle members. And after compiling these stories and seeing the photos, all I can say is Dang, just dang. Since I seem to be speechless, I’ll let the results and the pics do most of the talkin’:
Kathy did a wicked good job over the past few months, losing a total of 7 inches and super impressively, she went from being able to do zero pull-ups to doing six! Check out her results:
Upper thigh: 26.5″ (-1.75 inches)
Waist: 39.25″ (-3 inches)
Hips: 42.5″ (-1.75 inches)
6 single pull-ups (couldn’t do any at the start!)
“I’m glad I did this program. It was tough, but worth it. It left me wanting more.”—Eugene
Eugene did a killer job, too, down 7 pounds, increased strength and muscularity and even enjoyed a growing kettlebooty – that may not be a goal of most of you menfolk, but let me tell you, power, strength, and health all reside in the glutes. He slept great, enjoyed out-of-this-world energy levels, and got stronger.
In the man’s own words:
“To all those people who think they have to eat every 2-3 hours to boost metabolism and build muscle because they must eat more;
To all those who say: ‘I can’t skip breakfast. It’s an important meal’;
To all those who say: ‘You don’t eat for 20 hours?! I can’t do that’;
To all those who say: ‘How can you workout without eating; surely you
don’t have energy?’;
To all those who say: ‘Dude, you must be doing a ton of cardio.’
And I say to all those: DUNG! Stop talking DUNG!”
Hear, hear, Eugene! Preach the truth 🙂
Kristen started up the program as a new mom who was unhappy about not being able to fit back into her pre-pregnancy clothes. That certainly isn’t a problem for her now. She’s at 8 pounds below pre-pregnancy and down 2% BF.
“I am 39 years old,” Kristen writes, “And have had 2 kids and am more physically fit than I think I have ever been. I know I’m the lowest weight I have been since high school. I have noticeably muscular arms and a budding 6-pack. Trainers at my gym have stopped me to say how far I’ve come and asked me what I’m doing. So cool!”
Aesthetics aside, she’s gotten stronger and increased her cardio endurance. Even better, training with Pat has made her first love, yoga, more fulfilling. Poses that were challenging are no longer challenging and arm balances have all improved.
“Fat continues to dissipate. Strength continues to build…and I’m seeing a number on the scale that I haven’t seen in 20 years!” — Peter
Fat dissipated. Strength was built. And so it continues on with growing strength and melting body fat. He’s moved up to 20k to 2/24k bells! “At 48 years of age this is something I was NOT anticipating, so it is a most welcome and awesome testimony to your coaching philosophy my friend!”
Peter says that even though he is crazy busy and doesn’t have much time to work out, he’s now seeing a number on the scale that he hasn’t seen in well over 20 years.
Dan saw some great strength gains and as he wrote, “not bad for a 63 year old man.”
The man is walking around pressing 120 pounds of metal overhead and tossing it in dumpsters and carrying 175-pound railroad tie 75 yards uphill. So yeah, I’d say that isn’t bad. Not bad at all and lookin’ considerably leaner. Well done!
“I am loving how I look and feel!” –Anita
I thought Anita’s story was particularly inspiring. She’s a single mom and full-time student. There are days when she leaves the house at 6 am and doesn’t get home until 10pm, but, man, if she didn’t fully commit and see some awesome results because of her tenacity!
She lost 10 pounds in the FIRST MONTH ALONE and dropped her body fat into the teens, which is stellar for females. Plus, she can now do three chin-ups. Well done, strong lady, well done!
“I’ve lost 10 pounds and 11 total inches. Clothes are fitting better and loving all of it!” –Sarah
I am especially proud of Sarah – a breastfeeding mama (like myself) who took Pat’s guidance to heart and is already seeing awesome results. She’s down 10 pounds and 11 inches. And just as I have noticed, fasting has had no adverse effect on milk supply.
Overall, her body is feeling better, she’s spending less time working out so that means more time for everything else. What a great ‘tude!
